Sheep ultrasound machine pregnancy detection methods – rectal pregnancy test

Rectal pregnancy test of sheep ultrasound machine is one of the methods to detect whether ewes are pregnant by using veterinary ultrasound system, and its operation steps are as follows:

Ultrasonography for sheep

1. Preparation: Before performing the test, make sure that the sheep ultrasound machine is functioning properly, that it has a rectal probe suitable for rectal testing, and that it has sufficient lead gel.
2. Sterilization and lubrication of the contents: Before performing the test, sterilize the sheep ultrasound probe and apply some veterinary lubricant to the surface of the probe in order to minimize irritation and facilitate insertion of the test probe.
3. Immobilization of the ewe: When performing the test, place the ewe in the immobilizer and secure it so that it does not move around due to discomfort. Allow the sheep to stand comfortably on the ground and brake easily.
4. Insertion of the probe: Wear gloves and apply lead gel to the probe. The probe is then inserted into the rectum of the ewe in a measured lateral position, with slight downward pressure and applicable rotation from the rear forward. Care should be taken that the depth should be inserted about 10-15 cm, never too deep to avoid touching the feces. Avoid excessive force to prevent trauma or discomfort to the ewe.
5. Adjust the probe position: Move the probe slowly to find the appropriate observation position. Search from deep to shallow and observe reproductive organs such as uterine horns, cervix and ovaries from left to right or vice versa.
6. Searching for fetal features: Observe the image on the ultrasound instrument for sheep. When there are pregnancy features, check the fetal morphology such as fetal vesicles, fetal arches, fetal images, fetal heartbeat, etc. If the above features are obvious, the ewe is pregnant.
7. Record the test results: After observing the pregnancy characteristics of the ewe, record the test results in time, recording the number of days of pregnancy and the expected date of delivery for future reference.
8. Completing the test: After the inspection is completed, gently withdraw the sheep ultrasound probe from the rectum of the ewe and clean and sterilize it. At the same time, release the immobilized ewe.
During the operation, it is important to be gentle, slow and steady and train the operator. to minimize trauma and injury to the ewe.
